US $1 Bill is what I use for my eyeglasses, as well as anything else that I want smooth. Just have to be patience. (Learned this trick from Neal, a journalist who has a syndicated car column)
Another suggestion is Toothpaste and a cloth. Works well for anything that dollar bill doesn't. (Fixed some deep CD scratches with this one)
Lastly, you could always try making a paste out of baking soda, and using it like buffing cream. (This would be for something like a gouge, rather than a scratch) This would also deodorize your screen! (Just kidding. But probably true?)
