K200D not working with 'A' mode on lenses.

Just hit a snag with my K200D (which may be related to a bit of surgery which I had to perform) as it doesn't seem to want to change aperture with lenses set to 'A' (or without Aperture ring).

Shots are fine if using the Aperture ring but if I use Aperture priority it doesn't change the aperture when I shoot and any other mode which is meant to change the Aperture doesn't seem to.

The surgery was that I had to remove the front mount plate to unstick an M42 adapter that had got stuck. The plate was fine but the copper ring behind (which was heavily tarnished) came detached and very briefly I seem to remember seeing a wire attached. - Am I going to have to try to fish this wire out by any chance?

OK looks like I fixed it - I was right - tip to anyone who does the same..

Hope your handy with a soldering iron, it's a bit awkward.. Pentax should have made that wire longer but a pair of tweazers and being handy with a soldering iron and she seems to be fixed :-D

So you had to remove the mount altogether to get out an M42 adapter? Can you at least share where you bought it from, buyers beware?

Ebay/Second hand so unfortunately no use. It looks genuine but would appear not to be as it's possible to rotate it beyond the 'stop' very easily.

That had me laughing so hard when I saw the picture with the writing peeling off.

Now to be helpful too: Didn't you read the warnings on this site? They're like, everywhere. If you want to keep using that adapter safely you'll have to neuter it (unscrew the clip on the left). What you'll have is an adapter that stays on the lens, rather than on the camera, but at least it won't get stuck anymore.

And I hope you didn't pay a lot for it.

To be fair it's wearing off more than peeling.

Sorry to read that you had problems with the adapter. I guess we learned if the spring clip is removed from the adapter the problem is solved.
