k7 firmware problem

I have recently discovered my k7 has developed the dreaded( green line ) which is apparently fixable with a firmware update.I have previously updated firmware on my k10 and also an earlier update on the k7 without any problems. I use a windows pc and downloaded the 1.12 firmware for windows but the file wont open. a box appears that says( winSFx32m v2.80.5.12 ) at the top and (install directory ) below, with a file address. When you click on it, the box disappears and a search for the address doesnt show anything.I also down loaded the mac version which opens like it should but when you try to extract the (bin.) adobe reader comes up saying its not a supported file type or damaged during download. I have deleted and downloaded several times over a week with no difference in the outcome. Also pentax support" live chat" is constantly unavailable,and there seems no way to contact pentax support via email. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not very good with computers.

Firemware upgrade for K7 as follows:-

Download firmware from Pentaxt Japan - Link -> Latest K-7 Firmware Update : Software Downloads | PENTAX RICOH IMAGING
Scroll to the bottom and click the Download button of your version and save to computer. (file should be named: 'k7_e112w.exe)
Double click on file to extract to computer, giving you two fies, a readme file and the firmware file named 'FWDC204B.BIN' (this is the update file)

Copy this file to a Blank SD card (the FWDC204B.BIN file) then read the readme file......

Extract from readme file as follows:-

2. Insert the D-LI90 battery into the camera and confirm the battery is full by battery level indicator then turn the camera off.
3. Insert the update SD/SDHC card (prepared in step 1) into the camera and close card cover.
4. Turn the camera power on while pressing the MENU button.
5. "NOW LOADING" appears in the LCD monitor, and will change to the "PROGRAM UPDATE". At the bottom of the LCD monitor,
CURRENT VERSION 1.00/1.01/1.02/1.03/1.10/1.11
UPDATE VERSION 1.12
will be displayed.
6. Press the four-way controller to select "YES" and press the "OK" button.
7. "UPDATING" appears on the LCD monitor and updating starts.
Please do not under any circumstances switch off the power before the update is completed.
It will take approximately 90~150 seconds to complete update.
8. When update is completed, the "COMPLETE" will be displayed at the left bottom of the LCD monitor, then turn the camera off.
9. Remove the update SD/SDHC card from the camera.
10. To check the Firmware version in your camera, turn the camera on while pressing the MENU button.
Check that the version displayed in the LCD monitor is "Ver.1.12"
The camera automatically starts up after about 5 seconds.

(Caution)
When updating is finished, the update SD/SDHC card still contains the Firmware file.
If you want to use this card to take pictures, delete the Firmware file first.

The file downloads ok, but as I stated when you double click the problem occurs. It will not self extract.

The installation Directory (by default) is the same directory that the extractor file is in.
I also Just tried downloading the Mac version an a Windows 7 32bit. The download file is a standard ZIP file called: K7_E112M.zip

you can right click on this file and extract it like any other ZIP file. I t creates a directory K_E112M and in there are the same to update file.

The BIN file is the file you put on the SD card [AS IS] there is on further extraction, this is the update and the camera knows what to do with it.
