Also, OrangeKx, I see you reviewed that Tamron 100-300. I can find it for like 60 dollars. Do you think it's worth it?

I was able to get the F 35-70 macro & F 70-210 for under $100. $50 & $60 respectively on eBay. They are both fairly good and rated good here.

Thank you!

What's the difference between macro and telephoto? I think I'd want more of the latter to add some perspective to portraits / far away architecture shots.

My definition -
Macro = focus very close on small objects
Telephoto = bring far away objects closer

I agree on the 35-70. Don't have the other lens mentioned. See my signature for other lens owned. I really like the 28-85 Vivitar which I'm selling on the market place. A shameless plug. I like the 35-70 better. Can I ask the name of this auction where the OP got that great deal? By the way, my 35-70 was $31.00 with a really nice looking SF10. Check the F80-200. Always check the lens reviews on this forum. Good shooting.

I'm really happy with my 100-300 lens. I had it long before I bought my K-x. I would check prices to get a good "going rate", but I would buy it.

DA 18-55 II is very good (better than first version).
F 70-210 is great
F 50 f1.7 is a gem. This is a MUST have. Buy a M series if you can't afford the F one. Same optics. wonderful lens.

I researched a lot before I bought my first lenses, and this autofocus kit is the best value I can think of .

I actually just picked up the 50 1.7 for like 35 dollars.

My camera came with the DA L 18-55.

I went and picked up a cheap manual 70-210 Vivitar to play around with too.

I'm thinking I might need a cheaper telephoto. But I can't find much for as cheap as it *should* be, unfortunately.

I want to say thank you everyone! Especially for pointing me to the reviews. I have found some wonderful lenses. I got the SMC-M 50m f/1.7, a Vivitar 70-210mm, and a 28-80mm Tamron aspherical, all for under 100 dollars.

Here's some of my early work as reward. Be nice, I'm still a beginner!
