Auto flash

I have a Pentax K5. On the auto mode (green) is the flash supposed to pop out automatically having the flash settings on Auto flash discharge?

No. There is no "auto pop-up" with K-5 built-in flash. If you want to use the flash, you'll have to pop it up yourself.

This is actually a good thing.

I agree, I'd add that this is actually an 'excellent' thing.

I HATE when machines try to think too much for me. I prefer doing the thinking and having them obey.

Hmmm, maybe that's why I shoot manual quite a bit of the time with my Metz on 'Auto' (old fashioned auto thrysistor, that is)

Also, if you're somewhere where you can't use flash (the rules forbid it) at least you know it won't accidentally 'flash'.
