Pentax Kx Flash Misfire

My Pentax Kx just started having what I would call a flash misfire. I am only using on the pop-up flash, no fancy equipment or anything. When I press the shutter down, the flash lights up and doesn't take a picture. I have it in auto mode (haven't tried any other). And it does it repeatedly. I only got this camera Christmas of the year before last, haven't even used it that much, and it hasn't been dropped. Can anyone help me figure out the cause or what I should do.
Thank You,
Robin S.

Test in manual mode before sending it off for repair.

If you are using it in low light, the flash will do that to help the camera autofocus.
