D-BG4 fault and CRIS's turnaround +

My D-BG4 which is less than a year old developed a fault and the buttons stopped working. Tried everything, on-off, pull battery, new battery, different sequence at start up - still dead. Sent it to CRIS via USPS regular parcel mail on 7/21. I don't know when they got it but it couldn't have been much before the 24th or 25th. Today I got this email from them:

C.R.I.S. Customer Service
11:15 AM (4 minutes ago)

Hello

The repairs have been completed. The unit has been shipped back to you via UPS, scheduled to be delivered on Friday.

Thank you
CRIS Camera Services

I look forward to its return and can't believe how quickly the completed the repairs and turned it around!

I think it's a good thing to report good service like this. It's as important as reporting bad service.

Glad it was so quick for you. I was impressed earlier this summer with their service when I sent in my K5 to have the flash mount repaired under warranty. The turnaround was less than three weeks including shipping time.

I agree, we're quicker to report problems but we need to also praise as well.

The D-BG4 arrived in this mornings deliveries. Very well packaged. Lots of peanuts, plastic wrap, etc. They returned all my paperwork with the grip. Their work order states that they "Repaired Power Switch Assembly" and "Cleaned and Checked to Manufacturer's Specifications". It also says that photographic accessories are warranted for 6 months from the date of the repair. That extends the warranty on the Grip from December to January

Put a battery in it, closed it up, attached it to the K-5 and snapped away. Looks like its fixed, all the dials and buttons appear to work, I am very happy.

Mailed it to CRIS 7/21
CRIS mailed it to me 7/27
Received by me 8/3

CRIS was all gun-ho when I was paying for the $300 repair bill, not a peep from them when it got sent in for re-work. Confidence inspiring, not.

When she paid for it they provided excellent customer service, when they were taking care of the bill they did not give the same courtesy!

Exactly, no status updates, WO number or any word from them. They were polite when I finally called them and inquired about my unit.
When it came back it still was not 100%, mode selector release button would stick when pressed down, I was not willing to be with out the camera again for several weeks so I decided to live with it.
