Tokina 80-200 2.8.

I just sold my trusted lens to a Ukrainian member who just received the lens in it's stated condition. The recipient stated that there seems to be an oily substance on one of the elements. Could this have been caused by the freezing conditions in the cargo-hold and being re-introduced to a warm climate? The lens is 23 years old BTW, was never abused and has been all around the world with me, but only used once within the last 7-8 years.

I don't have any first hand knowledge for you, but I remembered recently seeing some discussion about air cargo.
