set time and date

Hi,

I am very new to the site and have just purchased a K-r. The camera still thinks it is 2010. How do I tell it that we're in 2012 now?

By doing what the manual says, normally in the first few pages. It's usually in the camera menu on the left tab.

Generally such simple tasks are best found in the user manual. In case you do not have one, it is available in pdf form on the Pentax web site. A DSLR is a complicated piece of equipment and you will not get full value from it without spending the time to read the manual.

To answer your question: Press the menu button, I think date/time is under setup menu 1 but I have a k-5 so it is possible it is slightly different. But if you press the menu button and look under the setup menus I am sure you can find it.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

That's nothing. I still think it's 1998.

I guess, the first few pages is not quite correct. Page 270 of the manual?

The index would lead you to believe that. They also cover it in Getting Started -> Initial Settings, page 64.

Yep. To access that, you need a 'virgin' camera And this camera does not seem to be that, else OP would not have asked as he would have encountered it.
