From the manual Green mode reverts to Av mode with non-A lenses or an "A" lens not set on "A". Otherwise the camera uses the "Auto" program-line. I don't know what exposure settings the Auto program-line controls. You probably had the sensitivity set to "Auto" before. Av mode should only expose correctly with non-A lenses when the lens aperture is set wide open.
M42 lenses or a K-mount lens with the diaphragm lever removed may expose correctly in Av mode when stopped down. However, I've noticed as much as 1.5 stops difference vs the exposure selected in stop-down manual metering with a M42 lens (Pentax OEM adapter).
A K-mount lens with the diaphragm lever intact in Av mode would set an exposure as if the lens were always wide open. When you take the picture the lens will stop-down and your image should be underexposed by however many stops you set the aperture from the widest setting.
Removing the lever (I've been told) on most lenses can be done easily and reversibly with a little dis-assembly. Cutting the pin off lowers the resale value (at least to fellow Pentaxians).
