Trying to figure out which part

Hi.

I am acquiring a Pentax F 1.7 50mm lens that is missing the ring which you turn for focus. I have attached pictures here.

I contacted Pentax Parts, and they sent me a part list sheet, but I'll be damned if I can figure out which part it is. The person I spoke to cannot do more than help me order something. I've attached the parts sheet for the lens (at the bottom).

Based on the lens pictures and the parts sheet, can anyone help me figure out which part I need to order?

Thanks

It's the 0-F131 you can see the 4 notches around it but you only need the outer ring part, looks like a big job to change the whole piece. Maybe it can be removed and re glued to your lens that would save you a complete dismantle.

The lens will still work without it in auto focus.

Good luck

@bob...thanks, I thought that that might be a candidate, but I was expecting a simple ring...but you're probably right. I was under the impression from the lens pic that it would be something that you would just pop on, kind of like a ring, but from the sound of what you are saying....it ain't so straight forward.

Anyway, according to the seller, not only does the AF work, but you can still MF without any problem using what is there....having the ring on it would look nice though.

Steve

you could use a black "tie wrap" and cut off the excess tail. You then have something with grip plus you can quick focus by using just the locking clip of the tie wrap a la Leica's focus ring tab...just an idea fwiw

That's an idea...thanks. I was thinking of going to Home Depot and seeing if they had anything that would work.

are you sure of the part, it actually looks like the lens is missing the D101 read the descriptions the 0-F-131 is already on the lens, it is the distance scale shich projects into the outer barrel, under a window,

I would view this as an opportunity to improve on the original ring which is pretty thin to MF with. A tie wrap will almost look original, with its teeth resembling the grips on the real part.

@Just1More.......maybe I'll give that a shot....easy enough to try....the hardest part is getting the time to go out to Home Depot
