Little boy's *ist DS - intermitent fault - Av & Tv

As my K5 has not arrived and 'technically' I don't actually own the K-x anymore (I'm delivering it to its new owner on Monday) I borrowed my boy's *ist-DS this morning...

For about 10 minutes it would only be used in manual or aperture priority modes... When mode wheel was set to any of the scene modes, green mode or Tv (shutter priority) it just shot in Av mode... The LCD display confirmed this as I turned the mode wheel

Switching the ist on and off again didn't work... Then it did... It now appears to be working correctly (for now)

Any clues?

I worked it out...
My boy had removed the aperture ring from its 'A' position!

We all have those things happen. Yesterday I was late to my son's soccer game and the K-5 wouldn't turn on

. I finally realized that the sd card door was open. <Doh>
