Pentax K-5 vs. K-30 Purchase

I am ready to purchase a K-5 w/18-55mm zoom lens. The price for the K-5 is currently within $30 to $100 of the price of a K-30 w/18-55mm zoom lens. Is there any justification for purchasing the K-30 rather than the K-5 now that their prices are comparable. My review of both cameras specifications and comments on this forum lead me to believe it is a "no brainer" to purchase the K-5 but I am such a green horn I still question my decision to buy the K-5. Your thought, comments, advise will be appreciated.

Focus peaking is the only advantage of the K30 over the K-5 in my mind. But there may be other things like video that you may prioritise.

I'd say K-30. Peaking as Ash mentioned is a great feature, but also full manual control in video and a decent video codec that is a lot more compatible than the K-5's.

I'm all about image quality. The fact that the K-5 is a 14-bit camera and the K-30 is a 12-bit camera really says all you need to know about which one is the flagship. The K-5 has been out nearly two years (I pulled the trigger on one about 4-5 months ago) and it still hasn't been surpassed by any other APS-C camera. It is an awesome piece of engineering.

Also, you are seeing the K-5 priced as low as it is going to go right now. Meanwhile, the k-30 is priced what it is because it is the "new kid on the block". Wait a year or so and the K-30 will be selling for under $700, as it is designed to be the new "entry level" camera for Pentax. Don't judge relative merits based on PRICE.

Thanks to all of you for your comments. Like a dummy I posted my question twice to this forum and I apologize for my mistake. If you get a chance please look at my quick reply on my previous posting where I ask for help on the correct lens for a K-5/K-30 camera.

Thanks again for your responses,
