Miranda 28mm aperture failure

Hi!

Just got an used miranda 28mm 1:2.8 with a major problem.
With the lens unmounted the aperture blades works perfectly but when i mount it the aperture stucks wide open.
It seems like the aperture lever makes the lens stick in f:2,8.

Camera: K-5
Lens: Miranda 28mm 1:2.8 MC Miranda 28mm, f2.8 MC Lens Reviews - Miscellaneous Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

The aperture lever of the miranda seems wider then the lever of a original pentax lens.
Would it help to remove the lever or what should i do?

What about stop down metering, does that work? I have a 50mm Miranda lens, and it often behaves in the same way. Although sometimes it behaves like a preset lens (where the aperture constantly stays at whatever you set the aperture ring), but more often it behaves as yours. I would also like a solution for this. Could the plastic mount (no contacts) be the problem?

Btw, ff you unmount it, can you move the aperture lever normally?

I don't know your background (if you have ever used other manual lenses on your K-5 and if they work OK), but here I go stating the obvious: 1) do you have "use aperture ring" enabled? 2) are you in Manual mode? (Av is NOT ok).

Thanks cobain, manual mode did work and yes this is my first manual lens.
When i use Av i still got exposure metering but the aperture it is locked to f:2.8. When i use manual mode i got no exposure metering at all, is it possible to have exposure metering on a manual lens?

You're welcome. In Av mode, you only get metering wide open, but you will have to dial some exposure compensation - +2 or in the ballpark. In manual mode, it's easier because you can just press the Av+/- button, or the green button. Press it before each shot and you should get good results.
