A plug for C.R.I.S.

I sent my K-7 to C.R.I.S. for AF adjustment and cleaning (extended warranty).

The camera was delivered to C.R.I.S. Oct 4.

It was sent back to me Oct 10, after only 4 business days.

Before, I had to set AF adjustment at +10 and it was not sufficient (+12 would be). Now it's at 0.

Repair description:
RESET ALL
ADJUSTED TO OPTIMAL RESOLUTION FOCAL POINT
ADJUSTED TO MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS
GENERAL CHECK AND CLEAN
UPDATED FIRMWARE

I'm not sure about the "UPDATED FIRMWARE" though. The camera already had version 1.12.

Great service by C.R.I.S.

Always reassuring to hear good reports! My K-5 will visit them in a few months for the full-battery shutter issue.

Good to hear about your positive experience. Latest FW should be 1.13.

I had the exact same problem with my K-5, and the exact same experience with CRIS service including the same work completed and time in and out. Not sure why some of K-5's get out of adjustment like this, and they don't seem to change any hardware in the fix - just zero out the AF.....but it worked great for me also and has been rock solid since (6 months now).

Did you need to send it with a lens?

I'm planning on doing this soon.

No. All of my lenses had the same problem. So I figured that the cause was in the camera.

I have the same problem with my zoom lens and K-5. Do you mind sharing how much they charge for this type of adjustment?

It was fixed under Pentax extended warranty - no cost (except for $12 shipping & handling).

1+ For CRIS. I started a similar thread back describing the same. I had a shutter run issue with my K5. I asked that they check my AF as the adj. were all +8-10. I did not send any lens in. I received my K5 back and all my lenses focus perfect without any microadjustments.

Excellent experience with them on CLA on my K20D and Sigma Bigma CLA. Fast turn around, very well packed and reasonable. Thumbs up.

Figured I'd post this in a thread about C.R.I.S without starting a new. My K-r went in over the summer for the mirror flop issue. I (stupidly) forgot to get an extended warranty, and my warranty is up at Christmas this year. If I already sent my camera in under warranty once, could I send it in a second time and have it cleaned/serviced under warranty?
