Flash battery life issue

Using a Metz 58 AF-2 and everytime I put in new batteries, even good non-rechargeable ones out of the packet it flashes low battery. It works for a while but not anywhere near as long as I might have thought. Any ideas?

Most likely a slow Voltage leak.

Could be for many different reasons but as the innards of these type of units can give you a nasty zap I would recommend you send it in for service.

Capacitors can hold A LOT of voltage......not worth messing with.

It could be you have dirty battery contacts. Try scratching them to clean any "gunk" off them then use a pencil to scratch them further.
