It's just that i can think of situations and settings that a K5 with DA 35/2.4 or DA 50/1.8 will out preform a Kx with a 31mm.
At for example f/5.6 there is little between the sharpness of these lenses so it's all about the extras the camera can give, the K5 just has the edge there.
Yes K-5 is clearly better than K-x in the DR department, and pixelpeeping does reveal differences of detail. However, these differences are hardly noticeable on the images spread out on my 42" TV. Most of the time they aren't noticeable at all. I'm not saying K-5 doesn't have better IQ--I'm saying its IQ advantage isn't so great as to justify letting go of a FA 31mm. In fact, I'm saying the IQ gain with the K-5 is pretty marginal (except with respect to DR).
