On vacation, K10 dead

I am in Puerto Rico and I took the K10 in the pouring rain (actually got caught in it)... First the memory card gave an error, then the camera stopped working. Now it takes about 10 seconds to turn on, but have no LCD display on the back. Only the battery full shows on the top right LCD display, nothing else
Anyone experence this?
Any ideas on what to do?
My wife has her K100 but I am getting a bit jealous

The memory card doesn't work on hers either.
I am not so worried about the K10 but the timing sucks

Thanks

Randy

Open all slots and lids and drench it dry rice. I hope you quickly pulled the battery? The more you try to power water damaged electronics the worse it usually gets.

He means the trap door to the memory and the output/remote as well as the bottom plug for the battery grip and if you can the mount also left without a lens, but tape a paper towel to the mount to keep rice and dust out.
The idea is to expose the insides to the rice to try and allow it to suck all the water out.

The rice could work, assuming no permanent water damage to the electronics, but it usually takes several days for all the moisture to be sucked out. It really sucks to be in this position when time is limited

Before you get the rice, try openings all lids and removing the lens and battery. Dry moving air would be good - perhaps a hair dryer on low heat.

You can't leave a hair dryer on that long (not with heat, anyway) -- just point a fan at it until you get rice.
