Hard to trun the zoom ring on my A 35-105

Hi guys,

I recently got a lens Pentax A 35-105. from Ebay. It reaches last night with a really poor packing. It is almost like just put the lens in a much bigger box without any cushions. Well, the main issue is the zoom ring wasn't able to turn at first and this morning finally I got it turned but it is not that smooth, and it could only be turned on the condition of macro mode, then the focal ring reach the end.

So could anyone who has a same copy of this lens give me some information of the lens? Is it common to every copies?

Thanks

After you use it for a while, the stiffness should go away entirely. When I first got mine, it had the same problem, but now it's very smooth. I guess that sticky oil must be to blame!

I've had two copies of it and am using my latest copy now. It is fairly stiff but not as stiff as you describe.

Thanks guys. So is that true that the zoom could only be turned at the macro model?

The zoom ring should work independently of the focus ring and should not depend on whether it's in macro mode or not.
