Pentax X-5 focus issue

Hi folks,

I was hoping someone could help me with an issue I have found with the Pentax X-5. The camera has doesn't seem to want to autofocus at higher zoom levels, and I think it might be an issue with the camera - the settings wheel on top is set to 'auto picture' and I haven't changed any of the focus settings manually. It focuses fine at lower zoom levels. Has anyone else had an issue like this with the X-5? Do you think it is something that Pentax could / would fix with a firmware update, as I'd hate to have to return it - i'm otherwise really pleased with this model.

Just another query - does anyone know of a compatible remote control that could be used with the X-5, and if so, price / availability?

There are also some cheap knock-offs that should work just as well.

Regarding the AF issue, if it's dark outside or if you're indoors, the AF probably won't work reliably at high zoom levels.

Yep, low light conditions or small subjects like a bird 100 feet away, upper end of the zoom range, it's going to have trouble focusing. Same problem with every auto focus P&S or bridge I've ever picked up. Some are a bit better than others, but it's pretty much all over. I seem to remember reviews of Canon and Nikon bridge cameras having comments about the same thing with those brands, mileage may vary.
