K20D Mode Dial Problem

I fired up the K20D tonight after not using it for a couple days. Fully charged up battery though.
I went to change modes from manual to green - auto, and it wouldn't go beyond Av from Manual.

I shut it off and reset the lens (removed it, put it back on). I also pulled the battery, and put it back.
Still no luck.

I've found similar threads for the K200, but none like this for the K20.

Has anyone experienced this with a K20D?

Thanks

Do you mean the dial physically won't turn or all modes besides M show up as Av? If all modes show up as Av then there is a communication error between the body and lens, usually caused by dirty contacts or in the case of a lens with an aperture ring, the ring not being in the A position.

Hi Elliot;
Dial turns fine
TAv, Tv, Sv, P and Green all show Av.
I just took the lens off and the ball contacts on the lens look fine. The ones on the cam don't look as bright as those on the lens. So maybe that's it.
One other thing; on the cam, the third ball contact from the left looks recessed, while the rest look 'proud' of the lens mount surface. Is that normal, or should that odd one look like the others?

Also, how should I clean the contacts?
Thanks,

That is normal.

I've used a pencil eraser to clean them, some people use rubbing alcohol. If you use alcohol be sure to find some that is 90% or higher, the cheap stuff has too much water in it.

Oh geez. I feel like such noob.
The aperture ring wasn't set to A.
That fixed it.

Thanks again Elliot.

We've all done it, it will happen again too, hopefully you'll remember to check that first next time.
