synch cord problem

I have a K-7. I connect to external strobe flash(older white lighting). The synch cord will miss several fires in a row. Hit and miss. The cord is new, hoping the older cord was the problem. Manual gives no info to address this problem. Any suggestions? I connect cord directly into camera body.

PC sync cords are notoriously unreliable. One solution is to get a couple of hotshoe adapters with miniphone jack connections and a miniphone cord. Check out www.flashzebra.com for options. Another solution is to get radio triggers. Lots of options available, from inexpensive to overpriced.

It can be the flash. I have an old Metz 32Z-2 that misses 1 or 2 out of 20,

I agree. There is a tool available for adjusting the prongs of the PC cord to make a good tight contact. I have one, but I use radio remotes instead of sync cables 99% of the time.
