Lens filter compatability question

Hi ^_^ I just purchased my first Pentax yesterday. It's a Spotmatic F, my first film camera. I apologize ahead of time if this question has been asked, but I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere. Okay, so I'm wondering if it is acceptable to use the lens filters labeled for DSLR/Hi res use. I've seen a few postings posing the opposite question, and I'm gathering it's fine to use linear on a digital. Read a bit describing the difference between circular and linear...but am still feeling a little lost.

Yeah, the digital filters should work on film too.

Here's some info on linear vs circular polarizers (generally circular is the way to go):
