K-200D --> AF Sensor

My 4 year old K200D will only take photos in Manual focus. I am being told that the AF Sensor is broken. Repair = $320+ provided the part is available. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, is it worth the repair?

Not worth the repair for that amount of money you can buy a new camera.

First time hearing AF module getting broken.

Old consumer gear is generally not worth repairing these days; here is a like-new K200 for $270:

I would either pick up a new K200 and sell yours for parts, or maybe look into upgrading to a K-30!

Update - Sent K-200D off to Pentax for an estimate. The circut board is gone - on a 4 year old camera! Not impressed. I LOVE this camera but not worth the $600 repair. Pentax offered a new K-30 for $560+tax (body only) which is a great deal.

If it really does work fine outside of autofocus you can probably sell it. I'd put a focusing screen in it, leave an M42 adapter in it and keep it around just for screw mounts.
