Tulip lens hood for kit 18-55

My wife got me a Pentax tulip lens hood PH-RBC52. I can't get it on my K-30 kit 18-55 lens. Am i doing something wrong or is this not made for my lens?

You are not doing anything wrong. The PH RBC 52 will not fit onto an 18-55 DAL.

I have both a DA 18-55 WR with that hood (bought second-hand) and the kit DAL 18-55 (from a K30). It just doesn't fit. I don't think the DAL was ever meant to have a hood, although I assume that some third party manufacturer has made a hood for it.

I have the early model DA 18~55 AL
The tulip hood with it is PH-RBA 52mm

Same here. Also, this same hood fits on my DA L 50-200 kit lens (altho not designed for it), so I would guess it would fit your DA L 18-55. Both lenses are 52mm.

The DA L has different um.. hood and filter sizes.. pretty sure.. sorry.
