One other option is the F35-70, which comes with a 0.25x macro mode. It's not as wide as the 16-45, but much cheaper (although you must find it used.)

Sigma 18-55 f/2.8-4.5 OS HSM. You can occasionally find one for 150, and it's sharp, silent, and good on the wider end in lower light conditions.

Well done! The 18-55 is a very good lens for closeups, as your photo shows.

$150? Second hand kit lens $50, Sigma 70-300 macro, 100 dollars. I used that combo for years before feeling the urge to get something better, oops, I'm too late.... I hate that. Still looking for a second hand Sigma 70-300 might still be a good next move.
