drypenn, You have arrived.

Five Pentax 50mm prime lenses is the minimum quantity you must to own. The K 55 is the bonus and shows you as a real Pentaxian! Next step is to supplement with a handful of 50mm Takumars...

Drypenn, don't feel too bad... just counting my 50/55mm lenses, I have a lot more than your total number of lenses with almost equal number of 28mm lenses (another widely held prime lenses in film era).

Why do I have a feeling that this site encourages LBA?

I promised myself that despite what you guys say, I'll train my discipline not to succumb to any lens temptation from this day on... well, after the DA 10-17mm, perhaps, and the the 100mm WR macro, and the... I need a raise! lol!
I find it's easy to get hung up on selling one lens, unless I have a plan to use that money to acquire another different lens. It's fun to have one 50mm for every day of the week but if you could trade a couple of them for a good 24mm or a macro, you'd forget about reasons for so many 50s and be shooting with the 24mm.

They all have distinctive character, but I love the A f/1.7 and K f/1.8 most based on the limited time I have with them. ...Do I have to dispose some of them, or just collect them anyway? If ever, which one should I dispose?
You've already answered your own question, any but those two, but only to fund other lenses.

Right, it looks like too many in the 43 to 55 range, I'd keep the two best ones.

Then, I'd get red of the 18-55mm and 18-135mm. I've had them both and really cannot stand seeing photos from those anymore. They look better
compared to other kits lenses but once I started seeing what the primes and DA* can do, I couldn't see those images the same way. Plus, I ended
with a serious case of LBA too!

There is no cure for LBA...
Sure there is. Quit or loose a good paying job and go to work at Walmart getting just above minumin wage and have bills that you can't pay anymore.

And it really sucks when you see somebody in your area selling two Pentax bodies and about 10 lenses (and eight were Pentax) and you couldn't afford any of them.

Thanks guys!

From my last post, I have managed to dispose the following:

M50 f/1.7
DA 18-55mm

And I'm still in the process of moving the M50 f/1.4

I managed to get an FA 43mm and a DA 15mm (Thanks Adam!) to replace them... Talk about LBA!

One possible cure with LBA is to cut my internet. hahaha!

Why sell the M50/1.7? It's one of the sharpest lenses out there...

No wonder why 50mm lenses are so expensive!
I tend to get 50mm's and 135mm's without trying. I grab a camera for lens X and the 50's and 135's seem to sneak into the kits when they're shipped to me.

Exactly. I bought a Super Program from shopgoodwill for the A 28/2.8 and got an A 50/1.7 and A 135/2.8 with it. Well, I did want the 135 too but I already had a couple 50/1.7s.

Has anyone else noted that KEH only offers ~$35 for an A 50/1.7?
