I called B&H Photo to see if they would like me to return the camera to them, as most retailers (not all) I deal with want the item to be returned to them and they take care of the returns/warranty issues. They said no, sent it to the Pentax Warranty Repair Center.

I sent off my camera to CRIS. The response/repair was "SENSOR CLEANING FUNCTION NOISE IS HIGH FREQUENCY SOUND WAVES. IN SOME UNITS IT CAN BE HEARD. THIS IN NORMAL." So, to anyone else who encounters this noise with the DRII system, not to worry.

With that said, I still feel uncomfortable about the noise and solution (do nothing) and would have liked to receive a replacement camera without the noise. Especially since it did not do this when I first purchased the camera. If some units are making noise and others do not, typically that would indicate a problem, to me. I guess we'll see if this issue shortens the life of the camera.

Disappointed that Pentax Corporate nor B&H Photo did not offer a replacement unit. So much for customer satisfaction, as I am unsatisfied. Maybe next time Canon, Nikon, Amazon, Costco...
You mentioned that sound is not heard when you first got it, but now you're hearing it.
As far as I have experience, from K-x, Q, K-01 and K5-IIs, the dust removal at startup is OFF by default.
When you first received and turn on the camera, naturally no sound is heard from dust removal.
Once dust removal is enabled, you'll hear the high pitch sound or "dadadada" sound depending on camera model.

Since you're bother by the sound, simply go into menu and turn off dust removal at startup.
This may be your only solution as really the sound is normal.

Can anyone with experience with Nikon or Cannon dust removal comment on any sound generated when doing dust removal?

i have k5iis too and was quite worry during first few days to hear that noise. Then I found that comes from aperture control lever. when you switchon the camera without lens attached, you can see a little movement on left side of the window and it stops when the noise stops.
yesterday, after few pictures taken, I have some rest and continued but I was supprised not to hear the noise anymore. And I found that the aperture did not work! I could use only wide open. In Av mode, I still can change the A value by back wheel and the speed changes accordingly (and corectly calculated). but the pictures are more burning as more high value of aperture (more closed).
I will have to bring my kits to the dealer tomorrow. So sad!!!

To the OP: Is it this sound?
If yes it is normal on the K-5 and assume a similar sound is heard on II and IIs.
The sound will be louder or softer depending on which lens is used due to acoustic properties of lens and other variables.
