Dead K10 forensics

As some of you know, my k10 died in the pouring rain. I have checked it out one end to the other and found out only one way that the water went in.... Through the Pentax grip. It had big rain drops between the body and the grip. It must have gotten in the contacts and somehow shorted it out.

Now, how do I stop this from happening to my K5iis?
Are they better sealed then the k10 grip?
Both are genuine Pentax....must be when you put the camera in portrait shooting as this would be the way the gap would be the most venerable

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Randy

Just make sure that the grip is secured tightly. Water can get in between it and the camera, but the connector is weather sealed, so there should be no water there.

I've observed that the BG2 grip will distort when while holding and using a heavy lens. I had a 6x7 105mm with adapter and held it vertical and notice the grip was slightly shifting from the weight. I checked the thumb wheel and it was on tight, but the play was very observable.

I wonder if a thin gasket might do the trick
Cheers
