Mirror replacement

Hi,
does anybody know how to remove the mirror of a K1000? There seem to be two little "L shaped" pieces in the front and another one in the back. I am supposed to move those? If so, how? with a screwdriver?
Thanks,
s

Perhaps you'll find some answers at http://www.pentax-manuals.com/markroberts/k1000_man.pdf

Thanks altopiet! I scanned through the pdf a couple of times and I could not find how to remove just the mirror
Maybe it is so easy that they do not bother explaining that

S, I found this group Flickr: Discussing Pentax K1000 in Classic Camera Repair & Maintenance. They seem to know a lot about stripping the K1000. The last entry was 2 months ago, but it seems the thread is still active. Perhaps they might be able to help you....I think I've got an old MX somewhere. Unfortunately, it will take some time to look for it. It should be more or less the same as the K1000. If you don't get an answer somewhere, I'll start cleaning the garage, looking for it

I don't know for sure, but I think the answer is "Remove all 12 million parts around the mirror box, being careful to note their exact positions for reassembly. Then remove the two screws that hold a part you can't see or access until those 12 million parts are out of the way. Slide out the mirror."

It sounds pessimistic but I have the mirror box right here from an SF1. Maybe a thousand parts is a better estimate. Here's a photo. Look on the right side, slightly above center. See two JIS screws holding on a chrome plate, and a pin sticking out behind them? That's one side of the hinge pin for the mirror. Maybe removing that would allow the opposite end to be removed.

I would consider buying another K1000 before trying this.

Thanks for the info guys!
I think it is simpler than than removing all those parts; but I might be wrong....that's why I was asking in first place :P
thanks again.

I found this thread on Flickr a while ago. I also tried it myself, but it didn't seem to work. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Thanks Kcobain, I saw the same post a couple of days ago so that's why I was assuming it did not imply dissembling the whole camera. I did try but it feel like the mirror is gonna break if I force it too much...
