How stupid can you be...

Just before the Bafta awards were starting&my flash didn't want to work properly by forehand I wanted to remove it. But that went quicker then expected&wasn't really paying attention of how loose it was on my camera. While removing it it fell on the floor in the rain and the red class broke of it.

The flash still seems to work properly but as it fell into the rain with the red class of&the opening which came exactly open for the rain to come in. I don't feel really save of keep using it. But is there a possibility to let it checked, is it worth to let it checked on cables&let this be fixed? Or is it better to have a look around for a better flash&throw this one away? For indoor assignments it was always a great flash, barely used it outside(and is impossible now), but for at the bafta awards it would've been great to have an extra&stronger flash then the standard flash on the K5.

If there was only rain, I doubt there's any damage. If it seems to be working, then dry it out and then glue the red plastic window back on

A dab of silicone rubber in the corners would be OK. Just a dab. Silicone rubber has the advantage that you can still remove the red plastic if needs be.

The red plastic wasn't sealed to the case before, it looks like it was just clipped in..

Well the main problem is that it was dirt&rain. And stayed in cold for over 2 days, as my bags were cold as ice&couldn't become warm until I got home the next evening. Thanks for your answers Ron!

Ahh. I forgot it's winter where you are.

If the batteries were removed or the unit switched off, you may still be OK. Dry it out and take some test shots.

The batteries fell out as soon as it fell on the ground. I picked up everything. But I standard switch things off when removing an item or switching lenses. Yes it's winter here. Will have some tests tonight at my dad's so I can put things back together as well. Thanks for your help.
