k5iis all lens out by -8

I discovered that all of lenses seem to be front focusing -8 on the adjustment in camera.will they fix it for this little variances? is it possible that nothing is wrong? (example the lenses fault, not the camera)

thanks

randy

it could be that the lenses and the camera are all within the limits of the spec, but on the end of the spec on the front side which is causing the front focus. If they are all doing it with the exact same bias, and it isn't doing it on another body then it is your body. Check one or two of the lenses on another body and see if you can find another lens or two and check with those.

Manufacturing tolerances.

If all are -8, you're lucky, as you can do a AF adjustment, Apply all, in the Custom menu, which on my K5II is item 26.

indeed do a general adjustment and then finetune the lenses that need it.
No biggie.
Pentax won't replace the camera for this but they will calibrate the camera though.

I was under the impression that when you applied -8 to the body, all the lenses are at -8 but if you applied -8 to one lenses it did not accumilate... in other words it would stay -8 not -16. does that make sense?

thanks

I believe it did accumulate or was that the adjustment in the debug menu?

When I was shooting a volleyball tournament I noticed that EVERY single shot the jersey was tack sharp and the faces were soft....even when I focused for the face.when I changed the fine focus the soft focus on the face disappeared on both my *50-135mm f2.8 and my Sigma 70 - 200mm f2.8 EX APO. I remember before finding this out my FA 50 1.4 was the same. Not rocket science, no fancy charts, just real world results. My computer is down so I can't show any examples.

Thanks

Randy

Do you think this adjustment will change over time? (kind of wear and tear on the lens)
I guess since I bought it at Christmas I don't need to rush to Pentax
Thanks
