but there are no contacts, i feel its more a mechanical thing or i have the wrong setting on the body or something

It doesn't say "contacts on the tube."

It's faster to try the "aluminum foil" trick to see if that fixes the problem, then you can decide whether to scape the tube.

just finished the test. the actuator only moves when i have the lens off and the foil over the contacts. i had to turn catch-in-focus off to get the camera to actuate without a lens on it.

with foil here over the contacts i can now here the aperture flicking when i press the green button and it seem all is working now. im gonna see if i can just sand some more so that i dont need the foil in there.

Ok if i sand down about 25% around the mounts so that the tube its self grounds all the contacts it works perfectly without foil. Thanks guys. And sorry SOldbear i thought you refering to the tube contacts like on a AT-23, from what i understood some AT-22's had them and some didint. I'm sad though because these tubes were mint before i busted out the multi-max.
