k20d black vertical line

i have a black line, runs vertical, that suddenly appeared in my photos today. i changed the memory card, did the pixel mapping (2x), and blew off the mirror and sensor, the line is still there. i also converted an image to jpg, still there. the line appears on the lcd and computer image. do i have dead pixels??? is it repairable?
my camera is a k20d, never dropped or abused.
thanks for any info/help

That looks bad, like sensor failure if you ask me, but I'm not sure.

That looks like sensor failure. I think you'll have to deal with it in PP or buy another camera. If you sell that one "for parts" and buy a K20 or K7 you wont be out of pocket too much.

as i suspected, but was hoping for a different answer. i did try wiping it out in post processing and was pleased that it can be done, easy on a white wall but time consuming. i don't think its a long term option tho.
thanks for the help.

again sir, can you please insert your serial number in the database so other k20d users can check if their camera are prone to failure? the serial number and number of mirror flips would be awesome!

thank you very very much!

Well, pretty much all sensors will fail, it's only a matter of time. Sadly most digital cameras will be useless without a change of sensor and other electronics in a pretty close future.

This looks like the same problem when this model first introduced.

is anyone actually reading my comments in this forum? because no one ver replies to me and im starting to feel aside of this whole comunity, i think, and not because i own a k20d, that the user should report his serial number and number of shutter actuations to the camera database. if you agree, please show your support by saying something, or better, anything....

good luck with the k5

Hey, I answered you and now you're just sounding rude. I think the lack of serial numbers in this thread is due to the fact that pretty much all sensors will fail in a not too distant future. This is the backside of digital imaging as you can't just change the film. To guess the time estimate to the failure based on a single serial number is impossible.
