Green light focus indicator

Hi guys,
First it was on my kx and a few days later it happened on my k7 that the green hexagon does not activate on achieving focus.
I remember I had switched-off the focus beep on both cameras but nothing more. Any idea how to bring the green hexagon back?

Going to sound stupid I know, but if you turn the beep back on does it work again?

Can you detail more? Possibly can you explain some situations when this happens and what camera setup you have? Does this happen when you use MF or AF.C or AF.S?

In MF and AF, I strongly recommend to use center focus point. I found that to help focus confirmation.

kerrowdown - Thanks for the idea, but switching the beep back on doesn't bring the green indicator back(and hence doesn't beep as well)

hcc - As mentioned, both the Kx nd K7 had their beeping turned off, the idea was not to hear the beep but still be able to see the green indicator in the viewfinder. I am not sure when the green indicator stopped appearing or if it was exactly the same time when the beeping was turned off. But as mentioned, even after turning the beeping on, the beep doesn't happen, and neither the green indicator appear even when I can see that the focus is achieved visually through my viewfinder.
I have used manual focusing, with spot focusing(switching to center focusing doesn't help either), even when it used to show the green indication, along with manual lenses - Taks, M's.

I can understand that happening in one camera as being faulty, but that happening in two cameras gives me an idea that it must be my settings somewhere in both cameras.

When in doubt i.e confused , factory reset is your first option, albeit a nuisance having to set the camera up again.

JohnX - Thanks Yes that's what I am gonna have to do if nothing else works. With no further replies here, and nothing going on other sources about this problem on the net, its looking like I will have to take that step. Though I am wondering if this problem never had occured to others here on the forum. Am I the owner of two quirky cameras?

Put on an AF lens to see how it does.

Ken T - Tried that, nothing changes! Though it should work with manuals just as it did before.
