K20D + Sigma 18-200mm +SR issue

Hello,

it's my first post here. I would like to welcome everyone

I have Pentax K20D, around 1700 actuations equiped with Sigma 18-200mm. I think there is some issue with SR while shooting.

I made two photos- first with SR on, second without. Both photos on tripod. I found that with SR ON, the image is blured and I see also red pixels. It's quite strange I think (ISO 100, exposure 1,5 seconds). Do you know what is causing such issue?

Yes, pictures may be blurry when using SR and a tripod. That is why the manual, on page 66, cautions: "Be sure to turn shake reduction off when using the camera with a tripod."

ok I will start with manual than. Thanks a lot for reply.

BTW, do you know why I see the "red" pixels once SR is ON on the tripod? It worries me a bit (you can see them ony while you zoom the photo).

I don't get it. Why does SR ruin a perfectly still image ?

Hi,

it's completely blurred if you zoom it. The letters look like a mirrored. I did the same with Nikon D3100 and with K20D without SR activated- results were much better.

Please note that I set camera on the tripod- and this is why I was surprised by poor quality of the photo.

Now I read that SR must be OFF while shooting from the tripod.

The upper photo is with SR ON, the lower photo is with SR OFF.
