Pentax K5 NR

I have read in an unrelated forum on another site that the K5 applies NR to RAW files at 3200 ISO and above, is this correct. I always have NR unticked and thought this meant that no NR would be applied

"native" iso of the sensor only goes up to ISO1600, everything above is done by software not hardware. Noise reduction is then indeed applied.
In theory you can shoot ISO1600 and then bump the exposure up later in post processing.

But since you have not really notice the difference but only are concerned about it after you read it, is it then not mostly between the ears?
I would not worry too much about it.

Basically don't get to excited by all this, just enjoy your imagery with the K5.

Any image file has at least some processing done to it, even raw. Pentax does less than some, like Canon, but there is still some pre-processing.

Thanks for replying, I love the camera it's just that I bought a Sigma 150-500mm and with my K10d it had to be really good light to use it, but now with the K5 the lights not an issue or so I thought. I usually have it set in AV auto ISO 80-3200 and I have just bought a bag hide and plan to photograph wildlife in woodland, so reckoned on increasing up to 6400 ISO. I know your probably right and any loss of detail will be my technique rather than the camera, thanks for putting my mind at rest and happy shooting.
Mike.
