I’ve had this fix a couple of mine. Especially when the flash is older than the camera...

The K1, for example, didn’t work with a number of Metz models until they were updated.

I’ve flashed mine with latest firmware but still not work. After that I pried the flash head off and played around with the zoom mechanism. Somehow it’s been working again without error.

Maybe Metz uses Pentax’s SDM motor in their flashes 😉

I have this flash and will take to heart the advice to keep the firmware up to date. I would like to have it work with the next Pentax camera body I purchase, if possible.
