K-30: Mirror Slap Sound Solution?

Hello all!

I recently purchased the K-30.

It's great...except that the mirror slap is louder than I'd like.

Is there any way to make it quieter?

Thank you!

Not that I know of, Pentax camera's don't have a "quite shutter mode" like C/Nikon do.

K-5 is always in quiet mode anyway!

Add a weather sealed lens. In theory, the reduction of open air exits for sound would drop it's audible range slightly. Other than that, you'd have to add some sort of foam to the mirror chamber, which is a very bad idea. Any particular reason you'd want it to be more stealthy?

There are those big camera cases made to dampen its sound, so they an be used on TV sets and stuff, but thats not very handy.
The shutter isn't too loud for any legitimate photography. And even though some cameras are quieter, others are louder. The mid and low tier Pentax cameras arent outliers. I wouldn't worry about it. In cities and studios you won't even notice it.
The K-01 is a little quieter, as is the K-5.

I love the sound of my new K-30. Especially in continuous shooting.
The loudness could still become a problem in theaters and the like. Don't know a workaround.

I've even read about people complaining about the shutter sound of the K-5 but at the same time people drools over the Canikon FF cameras that sounds like machine guns!

The best solution is to sell the K-30 and buy a K-5.
