Unfortunately, there is no battery grip for the K-30, and that is one of the big differences between the K-5 and K-30. When I learned that I was very turned off by the K-30.

No problem! In all honesty, the battery should last long enough for most people, in my own opinion the battery grip really only provides the user with a bit more hand room, unless that'd be your reason for using it too. And plus an extra battery or two is far cheaper than Pentax OEM battery grips. I always use to stick an extra battery in my bag when I was using my K-10, rarely ever touched the second battery.

K30

I do keep an extra battery with me at all times, I also shoot an older KX and carry rechargeable AA's also have an AA adapter for my K30. I also have not had battery issues at all but my 150-500 Sigma uses my K30 on board batteries if I am using the OS settings for hand held shots. Mainly I would like a little more grip as I have large hands and other than that the grip would be mute. Again thanks for the reply to my question great site for pentax information !

No problem! I try to help as much as I can I almost got the K-30 myself, but I wanted the option to have a battery grip, and opted for the K-5. But the K-5's battery grip doesn't really help to balance a whole lot with the big zoom lenses, I don't know how much the 150-500mm weighs, but both my Sigma 21-35 and Sigma 28-300 are still too heavy for the camera (with the battery grip on) to sit without tipping over. Haha

When someone says that "the grip helps balancing the lens", they refer to the handling of the camera and the lens combination, while shooting, not when it is sitting on the table.

Yes, I know. Haha However it does also help counter-weigh the camera itself too. :P
...slightly.
