Digging up this thread only because I was curious as to how the K-7 video performs [knowing what I know now] I have never really used the k-7 in that mode.
Seems that the overheating problem is independent of the LCD heat.
So here are my results for comparison..
I shot several clips in succession, moving between each shot but leaving the LCD on, the symbol appeared after about 6 minutes.
After letting the camera cool off, I went inside the house and hooked it up to the 7" field monitor [yes the K-7 has HDMI out]. I got 7mins continuous video before the red thermometer appeared.

The outside temp today is 27c while inside the house it's 24c

I guess that monitor did not help much then.

I shoot videos for real estate photography. I had to sell my K-7 because it would overheat so easily and quickly...
I bought a k-30 to replace it and I have yet to see the overheat warning on it...

Using K-5 ii here.
I saw heat-up issue after 15~20 min of shooting series of short videos (around 12 cuts lasting about 10 to 20 seconds long).
I still managed to shoot few more clips without camera shutting down on me.

Condition
Evening, dim indoor (ISO 3200, 1/60, f/4 on photo) (living room without much bright lighting, only one movie light)
Around 15 degrees Celsius room temp.
And perhaps using Eye-fi card (16gb X2 Pro) added some factor in generating heat? A bit unsure about this.

Any tips to keep camera cool and / or cool down camera fast? I'll need to get prepared for longer session coming Sunday, since I'm expecting to shoot for 2~3 hours for less than 5 min music video.
