40 mm XS problem

I was happy My K-01 and 40 mm f/2.8 xs.I notices 40 Xs started very poor images. not focuses good. I checked other lenses on K-01 work well. I saw 35 mm Macro and fa 31 very sharp mages on K-01. I bring 40 xs lens to service. They checked and saw problem. They opened inside of lens and they could not see mechanical problem. And finaly they say inside focus chip problem. It must be changed And it could find in Turkey

Focus chip? I hadn't known of such a thing in the lens. You'd have to wonder such a part gets damaged with day to day use.

It sounds to me like the K-01's sensor is causing problems. Does the K-01 have a sensor dust removal utility? (most current bodies do) If so, I would give it a try. The sensor could be misaligned and the dust removal utility might shake it back into position. This worked for someone else in the Pentax Forum. There is of course no promises it will work here, but it isn't going to hurt to try either.

Do you have a picture of that chip?
If your focus ring is damaged, it might create problems with proper focusing.

Have you tried other lens on your K-01? Do they work OK?

Very odd. You should get replacement under warranty.

If other lenses are working than your K-01 is just fine. Try and return the XS lens if you have warranty.
If you can't ... ... hope you didn't spent too much on it.

But if is a chip caused because it was hit, it might not be covered under warranty ... .

Maybe you can still use it in MF mode with focus peaking.

Try and focus with the XS on manual focus - use peaking mode for better results.
