dslr lens not focusing on AF

I have a Pentax K-7 and four lenses, three of which are DA* lenses. I am having trouble with my f-2.8 16-50 mm DA*. It will not focus on the AF setting on my K-7, my other lenses will, and my 50mmf-1.2 will focus with the cameras motor.I can manually focus the lens, and it will focus with my older model pentax with the cameras motor.I have cleaned the contacts on the lens and made sure it is fully mounted, and have manually focused the lens in MF setting to try and kick start the lens's motor all to no avail. I believe the lens motor is gone, is there a way to bypass it and use the camera motor to focus, OR what would it cost to have the lens motor replaced, OR is there anything else I can try?

Thanks
Barry

SDM failure is what it sounds like for that lens, sorry. There is a hack that allows you to turn an SDM into a screw drive lens or you could have it repaired. Last time I read a report on repairs it was around $300.

Just wanted you to know what your options are for the lens. Repairing it is the other option.
