Pentax Kr - Memory Card Error

I know there have been other post of the same matter, however, most of them place the issue with a bad memory card. I've tried out several brand new memory cards (transcend 32 GB SDHC, ScanDisk Extreme 32 GB card and now just bought a 8 GB scandisk ultra) and all i get is a memory card error. These cards all work in my K-5 & K-7 that I have (and a hd video camera). The firmware has been updated to 1.12. I have been able to get a few of my standard 2GB ScanDisk SD cards to work, but that seems to be it. Anyone ever had this much issues? could it be the actually receptors in the camera that are the issue?

Have you tried formatting those cards in your K-r? That should hopefully fix the problem.

Hadn't thought of that, but I just tried it and it won't format, just gives me the memory card error issue. On another note, I found a old 256 mb kodak sd card laying around and that worked in it....It just seems like only the smaller cards are working. Is it just the fact that Kr's don't read the SDHC sd cards?

What is your firmware level? I routinely used Sandisk 32GB class 10 SDHC cards in my K-r.

Also, take a small flashlight and look down into the card slot and make sure you didn't bend any of the contact points.

If you have the latest firmware, the K-r should work with SD HC cards. I have never had it refuse to work with an SD card. The only problem i had was that one or two cards would occasionally give errors or fail to record data properly. Can you test those cards in other cameras? Did you make sure the write protection lever is in the correct position?
