Gaining control of a Pentax-M-1:17 aperture

I recently picked up a Pentax-M 1:17 50mm in a camera bag at a yard sale. Grabbed a adaptor for my Nikon body, and really enjoy this lense. However since It is designed to fit on a camera that selects the F stop for the lense I cannot manually adjust the f-stops. Is there a way to disable the lock on the lense?

Thanks
Chuck

The Pentax M series should stop down fine with the ring on an adapter, since it is the same as being unmounted. If you unmount the lens and turn the aperture ring, do the blades move?
