What kind of photography do you want to do? What would you like to do but can't with your current setup?
That budget isn't much, you won't get a modern lens.

Ter-or asks a pertinent question. Lenses are tools for purpose. First you must define your purpose, then ask for advice. Part of th answer to your question is that any k mount lens will work to some extent on your camera. You need to decide which gap you want to fill first.

Having said that, and being mindful of your limited budget, have you thought about an m42 - k mount adapter? The genuine Pentax adapter can be found for around $30 US. This will open up a whole world of classic manual focus, manual everything screw mount lenses for you which can be a great value buy. If you have a quick look around the net you will find countless screw mount (m42 thread) lenses which can be had for prices varying from a couple of dollars to many hundred for the rare, obscure, collectable lenses. something like a takumar 50mm F2 could be had for around...say $20? This will be a great advance in light gathering ability from your kit lens, and leave a lot of room in your budget to search for something longer or wider.

I started off this way a few years ago. I found the other great bonus of using manual lenses is it taught me to 'think' like a lens

good luck with your fledgling LBA.

DA 40mm XS. Sharp, fast AF, great for beginners, very compact, so you can always carry it with you.
Other lenses I would recommend are DA 35mm f2.4 and DA 50mm f1.8. These all give you great quality photos on a budget.

Or the DA 55-300mm, if you want an extreme tele. Good bang for buck.
You can even get these lenses second hand of refurbished.

Any k mount lens will work on your ist* DL.
For the budget you have you might want to look into older manual lenses like Pentax, Sigma or even AutoChinon.

- If you want a better quality lens to cover a similar focal lenth as the one you have then the sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5 macro can be had s/hand in that price range range
- If you want more reach I would suggest a Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 preferably the APO version or perhaps the Tamron 70-300 again within that range for a used lens
in fact you could probably get the 70-300 and a Sigma 28-80 f3.5-5.6 MkII Macro which can be got for around $30-$40 or so, I think this lens is under rated and will give good value for money and it has a fairly decent 1:2 macro
you should read the lens reviews here, like other have said it really depends on what you want to photograph.
cheers.

In addition to somethign liek the Tamron 70-300 you can get a kit 18-55 and have plenty of range, plus keep it under the 200 dollar budget. My start was the kit lens plus the Quantaray (rebadged Tamron) 70-300.

I'd vote for the DA35 f2.4 used. Since you don't know for sure what you want, that one is a great general purpose lens.

The nice thing about macro shooting is frequently you're going to use manual focus anyway - so you can get some very nice older lenses. Any of the Pentax 100mm macros are good, whichever variety you find. There are some others to look for too, the Tamron 90 is well-regarded. Keep an eye on the used market, you'll find lots of good choices in the 50-100 mm range. You can use the marketplace here to get an idea what's available - just make a keyword "macro" and you'll get emails when someone posts a lens.
