Just Some Help Needed

G'day I'm Daniel/Dan my interests in photography are Landscapes, Nature, Wildlife & Birds. My current gear is Pentax Km SLR, Tamron 10-24mm, Sigma 18-50mm & Sigma 150-500mm lenses, Manfrotto 055 4 section carbon tripod & a few other bits & pieces. I started with the following & not able to be used I lost a Sigma 28-80mm & 70-300mm macro due to mould & my Pentax MZ50 ( due to over worked & under paid ) it just stopped working I have since got a dry cabinet & planning for a pentax 70-200mm F2.8 lense. Are there any recommendations that anyone can suggest for my interests in photography. At the moment I have just used auto with very few manual settings but all of my foccusing is in manual. I plan to try & use more manual settings Soon. Some photos to follow soon. Thanks for your time, effort & help in advance Dan.

Pentax have an FA* 80-200/2.8 but I'm not aware of a 70-200/2.8 by Pentax. This focal range seems to slot between your landscapes and birding/wildlife applications, which may make it a bit out of place in your lens collection. Nevertheless, it is a fine lens and very sturdy. If for macro applications, I would suggest a manual focus 100/2.8 macro like the A 100/2.8 but if you want to spend a little more for AF, then the Tamron 90/2.8 macro or the DFA 100/2.8 WR macro lenses are brilliant. Then for birding, you need more than 300mm, but then that gets pricey. You already have a 150-500, and that isn't a bad lens, just a tad slow, which with a K-50 or K-500 would transform it into a capable birding lens on account of cleaner high ISO results

Welcome to the Forums Dan. I know how you feel about your camera. I just today got the estimate to repair my ZX-7. It is double what I was hoping for. Now to decide whether or not to get it fixed.

If you meant the 50-200, it's inexpensive. The 55-300 is considered a substantial upgrade from that. Though if you have the Sigma 150-500, you probably have the long range covered. One of the 18-250s might be a good walkaround for your kit.
