Terms and Definitions thread somewhere?

When searching a sticky didn't come up for this. I would like to browse an informative post with some photo Terms and Definitions in it.

Secondly, can anyone tell me what this is called? ::::
We shot some 30 second night shots last night. On both cameras, K-30 and K-01, we noticed "pin holes" of light common to the camera, and not to the lens used. What are these blown spots called?

The answer I found from several posts on forum:

Hot pixels?

Also, we definitely have an acronyms thread, try searching for it!

Thanks, should I be concerned about hot pixels? Is it normal, both are new cameras with only a couple hundred shots.

No, you still have 16 million left. Your cameras may have the ability to map them and remove the permanently stuck ones. Some software will remove them automatically. Adobe Camera RAW does it for my RAW images.

Hot pixels, what a joy. They prevented me from taking decent shots above ISO 800 on my K100D. No pixel maping on "old" models!

On the K-30 you have a menu option called 'Pixel mapping' (Setup Menu 3). Pixel mapping detects bad pixels on the sensor and disables them. I ran it when I first got my K-30, and will re-run it a couple times a year. In most cases more often than this is overkill.

OK, did it. I thought they were only mapped by compatible software profiles for my camera. I was going to upgrade my LR2 and PSE8, but now it appears unnecessary! (I think I kinda/maybe/might be right about this.)

I know even older versions of Adobe Camera RAW that came with Elements 4 and 6 will automatically erase them when you process a RAW file. With a JPG file they are "baked in". Downsizing a JPG image with obvious hot pixels can make them bigger because the downsizing algorithm sees something there to preserve.
