AF Spot Setting problem: X-5

Hello Fellow Pentax owners,

I have a new X-5 and I'm having difficulties with the menu.
It seems that some setting are "not available".

I need to set my AuoFocus to Spot and I am following
the instructions according to the User Manual (P91 on .Pdf / numbered 89 in manual).

The Autofocus Focusing area settings in the menu (once I enter the AF setting menu)
does not have the SPOT option to set. Only Focusing Area (fixed to Multiple, no option to change to spot) Auto Macro and Focus assist features appear. I can change the latter two, but not the Focusing Area - it seems to be fixed to Multiple.

The Focus Mode Area Selection "grid" [25 points] is blanked out as well, so I cannot select that to set either.

Any ideas? Help would be appreciated. I want to be sure first, before returning it for replacement.
Not sure if it's faulty, Maybe I'm not doing something right to activate all the functions on the menu.

I've reset everything to default and it still didn't work.

Thanks!

Jack

Hi
I don't have an X-5, but I know that on the K-5 you cannot set a lot of the options when the mode dial is on Green (Auto Pict) Mode.
Have you tried changing to M for Manual or P Mode and then check if you can adjust to centre AF? Maybe give that a go?
Cheers

Cheers, Dean.
It was as simple as that.
Just moved from Green to M or P and all menu options were activated.
Appreciate it, mate!

Hey Jack
Always nice when it's an easy answer, glad that was it.
