should I believe the score

hello great pentaxian.
I just confuse with some of pentax 50mm lens

Now I'm using FA50mm f/1.4. And honestly, this lens is not really bad as the score in this PF lens reviews.
but compare with F50.4, F50.7, DA*55.4 even with FA50.7, the FA50.4 has got worst score...

so seriously, if anyone who has an experience to compare those lenses with FA50.4
pls recommend me a 50mm lens instead of FA50.4

Also, if you guy have a F50mm 2.8 macro lens, do you think that you still need other 50mm?
such as F50.4, F50.7, FA50.7, DA*55.4

It's a good and compact lens, I had it (didn't use it much though) but sold it to get a DA* 55/1.4 that I use everyday when I'm out shooting. If you take away some flare issues and the plastic body with the bad FA focus ring it's a keeper for sure, get it if you want it!

If you need it or not depends on you, no-one will be able to answer it but I can say that a fast fifty is nice to have.

It's much better with a hood, and benefits from one more than any other current lens I can think of. The 50/1.8 is also very nice, has good IQ, modern coatings, and at <$200 is a solid buy IMHO.

my first concerned was 55.4. but, when I ask ppl about 55.4, they recomment me 77mm limit lens....lol~~

anyway 55.4 got 1vote. haha

Yes. It's not fancy externally but its IQ is solid.

Same deal with FA 50/1.4, though it's a tiny bit bigger but a little faster.

FA 43 Limited is the best. If you like images and not just test scores (though it does amazingly well on those too).

Well, I wouldn't switch my wonderful 55/1.4, WR and a big aperture is wonderful. Though if I wanted smaller size and a really special image look I would go for the 43.

Hard to answer. Can't really compare the two.

Is a St. Emillion Grand Cru Classee better than an XO Cognac?

I take better pictures (not great, not good, just better) with the 77mm than with the 43mm, but that's probably because I "understand" longer focal lengths better for when composing.

Other photographers, those with real skills, manage to get stunning photos with either. I've been blown away with what I have seen here on PF with either.

Optically, they are both equally wonderful in my opinion. But the rendering is different. One thing that stands out to me is that the quality of the bokeh is "creamier" for the 77.

Warning: if you get one you will eventually get the other (and maybe the 31 too).

Indeed, that is the main factor. I too like a longer focal length.

But in terms of optics I find the FA43 to have more dimensional imaging, less purple fringing (the FA77 is a monster for this), and more appealing sharpness. Not that these factors should trump the very practical matter of field of view.

Indeed, that is the main factor. I too like a longer focal length.
